Greetings!:-) 27.04.09 London club night Deep London launches its record label... Deep London club nights were spawned from a meeting of 2 DJ minds across a London dancefloor when Australian expat Johnny Kaz and French/West Indian Stan-ley took it upon themselves to create a party where they could share their love for Deep and Soulful house with the Capital’s masses. Deep London launched in 2007 with great success showcasing the creme de la creme of house jocks including Dennis Ferrer, Franck Roger, Alix Alvarez and The Martinez Brothers (UK Debut) among many others.. Packed with more energy and glow than a box of Readybreak, there’s no stopping this duo in their pursuit for their love of house music. We can only expect great things to come from Deep London in 2009 as Johnny & Stan-ley get set to launch Deep London Records this Spring. Armed with a hot Sampler EP in time for Miami WMC, the boys showcase some of the brilliant tunes they have signed from artist’s including Candy Apple, Deep Y’All, Africa Got Soul and some productions and remixes of their own too. First up is an emotional slice of soulfulness from Candy Apple Productions featuring the sublime voice of Anjou who delivers a stunning heartfelt vocal over a lush house soundscape. Sunny afro vibes come courtesy of French DJ/Producer Deep Y’All (aka DJ Rico) who delivers ‘Building of Deep’ featuring vocal stabs from Kathrin. Injecting some proper funk into the house, Stan-ley delivers a hot remix of Africa Got Soul’s brilliant cover of Temptations classic ‘Papa Was A Rolling Stone’ laced with funky guitars and infectious jazz flavas from South African Jazz band Abavuki. Rounding off the package is a remix from upcoming producer Garphie (recently signed to Soul Heaven) who conjours up an intense deep infectious groove riddled with haunting synths on Stan-ley’s own production, ‘Love Me Or Leave Me’. Johnny Kaz has been immersed in the London music scene for over 10 years during which time he was the head dance buyer for London’s flagship store of HMV. This talented and versatile jock has been djing since he was 15 on his own Australian turf, but since he touched down in London he has played in an array of different style venues…from eclectic sets in the infamous members club Chinawhite, to chill/lounge sets in Sochu Lounge, to electronica at The Players night at the AKA, or latin rhythms on the beach in Mykonos. Johnny’s DJ sets have taken him all over the world including Dubai, Australia, Amsterdam, Miami, Portugal and Italy. Stan-ley (aka Elbootyshaker) has been instrumental in the establishment of two of London’s premiere music venues. He was seminal resident DJ at Momo’s Kemia Bar from 97/98, then moved on to musical director of London’s infamous members club Chinawhite, which was awarded best club in the world 2003. Stan-ley is currently music director and resident DJ at Raffles Chelsea and Jalouse in London’s West End. Stan-ley has dj’d for many of the worlds celebrities including parties for Madonna, Hugh Hefner, Oswald Boateng, Diesel and the Brits VIP afterparty as well as touring all over the world from Hong Kong to Morroco to Ibiza where he was a resident at El Divino. As a producer Stan-ley has released productions on Tempermental Records, Jamblock, Hex Recordings and Bar Grooves. reviews Shannon Harris – Chicago “1 candy apple ft anjou - leaving you (original mix) - i love the dubby intro which builds into a groovy late night mesmerizing romantic jam. the horn solo's with dubby effects on the vocals really compliment one another. i am also feeling the synthesizer chords as well. composition and content wise i think we have a winner here. 2 deep y'all aka dj rico - building of deep (afrodeep mix) - i really see this choon making a big impact in miami. it has the formula for a dance floor banger. the beat is straight to the point with the over laying of the neo soulish vocals compliment one another well. i can't wait to rock this one on a system!! 3 africa got soul ft abavuki - papa was a rolling stone (dj stan-ley township ingroove vocal mix) - the beat, horns and groove are really catchy!! this is an interesting spin on the original song. it's definitely a afrobeat twist with soul. 4 stan-ley - love me or leave me (dj garphie raw mix) - this screams big room with a killer sound system all over it.” DJ Meme – Brazil “lovin the candy apple song ! bring it more !!” Quentin Harris “There's something quirky about the songs on this EP. That's probably what makes them sort of appealing. Building Of Deep & Love Me Or Leave Me are the standouts.” Jon Cutler “Building of Deep...afrodopeness!!!” Domu "This EP is a classy blend of the styles of house music i love. A trifle funky, a little bit acid, but throughout it is quality AND quantity. Faves are Africa Got Soul and Love Me or Leave Me. The afro vibe on the former is just right to bubble up the dancers, and the depth and groove on the drums and bass on the latter is perfect for the late night heads bounce!" DJ Pope “I am really digging the leaving you track” Teddy Douglas “I'm really feeling leaving you /candy apple. love love love it! will be banging this one.” Andy Holder “Nice vibes on the Deep London WMC EP. Each track defo have there own vibe which is cool! My fav is the candy apple track, really liking the deep soulful vibe and the vocals are nice. Also like Building Of Deep & Love or leave me.” Phil Asher “This is DOPE, both sides, full support. Faves gotta be Africa Got Soul & Candy Apple…LOVELY SUMMER MUSIC…GONNA BE PLAYED LOUD, DONT WORRY!” Andy Ward “all over the Deep Y'all like a rash, was on last weeks podcast and will be on the show again this week and next” King Britt “Killllllllllllllller….” Halo “yo I cant get enough of DEEP Y'ALL AKA DJ RICO - BUILDING OF DEEP (AFRODEEP MIX) ive been playing it twice in my sets.” Tony Touch "Dope EP !
